About us

J. T. Morgan's Butchers has been family owned and run, at the same location, since 1861. Occupying a prominent corner location at Cardiff Central Market we also make use of other units within the market and have a processing and warehousing unit located at Bessemer Road in Cardiff.  J. T. Morgan's Butchers is famous amongst foodies and gastronomes as well as the everyday family cook.

The business has been featured in many radio and television broadcasts as well as in print including accolades from the likes of: Rick Stein (Food Heroes), Raymond Blanc (Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons), Franco Taruschio (of Walnut Tree fame) and Angela Gray (Food writer, consultant and former chef to the rich and famous including Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber).

John Morgan, the current head of the family business, began his career delivering orders and running errands. John came into the business full-time shortly after completing his national service and has now been working full-time for over 50 years.

John's son Andrew has come up through the business like his father before him and is set to take things forward when John retires. John's grandson Christopher also helps out at the shop during holidays and weekends. John's daughter, daughter in-law and grand daughter all help to run the back-office and book-keeping aspects of the business.

J. T. Morgan's Butchers stand out from the crowd because we place so much emphasis on the quality of the produce and we take enormous pride in the skill and craftsmanship with which it is prepared.

Consistent high-quality, great variety and an eager willingness to discuss any aspect of our products, from source to table, make J.T. Morgan's Butcher's a great place to both shop and talk about great food.
